Within Reach of Every Hand

Within Reach of Every Hand was an edible installation about sharing, landscape, boundaries and home. The name was taken from a Mother Teresa quote - ‘Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand’.

The mixed media installation with fruit and nuts took produce from both Armenia and Turkey, two countries divided by war, but united by cuisine. Food is something every human shares, and geographical closeness provides edible links where politics divides. Eating is an intimate act so by using Turkish and Armenian produce it was about breaking those personal boundaries. In our stomachs there are no borders.
